This is what my niece requested for her birthday present this year. She asked me to paint her favorite family pet, her cat Gus, and frame a print of him. This was my most challenging piece yet since Gus has an odd color pattern. I really worked on detailing this piece to closely match Gus.

My entry for this month's theme in the Enchanted Visions Project

I had to research this one...

Background on Theme (Wikipedia reference): In Greek mythology, Circe (play /ˈsɜrsiː/; Greek Κίρκη Kírkē "falcon") is a minor goddess of magic (or sometimes a nymph, witch, enchantress or sorceress), described in Homer's Odyssey as "The loveliest of all immortals", living on the island of Aeaea, famous for her part in the adventures of Odysseus. By most accounts, Circe was the daughter of Helios, the god of the sun, and Perse, an Oceanid and the sister of Aeetes, the keeper of the Golden Fleece, Perses and Pasiphaë, the wife of King Minos and mother of the Minotaur. Other accounts make her the daughter of Hecate. Circe transformed her enemies, or those who offended her, into animals through the use of magical potions. She was known for her knowledge of drugs and herbs. That Circe also purified the Argonauts for the death of Absyrtus, as related in Argonautica, may reflect early tradition.

Hi All,

I'm sure you have all noticed that I don't submit much art. The reason is that I'm honestly bored of my own fantasy art. After 6 years of creating faeries, I'm tired. Lately, I've mostly done pieces for the Enchanted Visions Project. I still have that artistic drive in me. I'm just at a crossroads of what I want to do with the creativity that has been given to me. I will continue to participate in the monthly themes from the Enchanted Visions Project, but I'm thinking about exploring other types of art. Maybe I'll do landscapes, or animals, or still life, etc. I just don't know yet. If you see me submit something that isn't my usual work, it's just me trying something new. I hope with this change, I'll be motivated once again to create much more art.

Wow, I haven't posted in a while. I wanted to let everyone know that my art will be slower than usual. I am in the process of finding a job which would decrease the amount of time I can work on art. Times are tough. My husband and I are just barely making it so it is up to me to help bring home the bacon. Art isn't paying the bills so I need an official job. There will probably be more photography coming from me than art because photography doesn't involve a painting process.
